Jangling nerves, tapestry, and mushrooms

Here’s my latest progress with “Hammock View.”

Detail:

I’m leaving tomorrow for my long workshop with Archie Brennan and Susan Martin Maffei in Cannon Beach, Oregon. As always, my nerves are shot before a big trip. I’m going to spend the night with my sister tonight so that I’ll be a little closer to the airport in the morning.

My peas are coming up in the back yard so I put some wire cages over the bed. Hopefully that will keep the rabbits from munching them. I think that ants stole most of my lettuce seed. I noticed that I disrupted a nest of them when I planted.

Mushrooms in the front yard:

In the front yard

My personal favorites that I’m trying to get established as wildflowers. They grow in a lot of the yards around here.

Daddy’s ashtray is now on my front porch. There always used to be White Owl cigars in it. My Aunt Lib made it for him. This is one of those treasured odd objects that I thought had been thrown away. It’s one of the things that will make the move west with me.
