Posted by Laurie under Consumerism , Pronouncements , Simple Living , Spirituality
Celebrate freedom from corporate mind control!
Freedom from huge crowds!
Freedom from hours standing in line!
Freedom from stress!
Freedom from debt!
Freedom from piles of unnecessary stuff!
Give thanks for the valuable things you do have - your friends, family, talents, health, time, and life. And ENJOY them today!

I LIKE this!!! I refuse to go shopping on the day after Thanksgiving .. partly because I hate crowds but mostly because I hate the ‘need’ for it. Our news last night showed people lined up for what would be a total of 17 hours before the store opened to save. One person said he saved $2,000 last year!!!! YIKES!!!
Keep up the good work!! Buy NOTHING! I will sit home in my jammies and enjoy the peace and quiet!

Does a cup of coffee count? We did go out and have a family coffee time this morning…

Saved $2000? Holy crap. I probably won’t spend $20 total on Christmas this year.
Willow, I think that if you eat or drink it, it doesn’t count as accumulating unnecessary stuff at the command of the corporate marketers and media. That is what this is about to me. I feel that way about giving food gifts for Christmas or other occasions. Of course somewhere, sometime, you probably had to pay money for ingredients, even if it is tax on the land you raised it or on seeds. But we all need food, and unless you’re my mother, you don’t store it forever in a stuffed closet.

Not only did I not buy anything yesterday, I didn’t do much of anything either! I stayed in my pjs and read and played on the computer most of the day and it was just right.
